“If you ever in Belfast and looking to do a black cab tour. check out Belfast tour’s black taxi tour of Belfast. I had a wonderful time with these guys they knew everything about their city. I like to thank Norman from Black Taxi Tour Belfast. Highly recommended.”
We were getting a taxi from the Titanic museum after missing the last tour and were fairly disappointed till our taxi driver organised for us to do a black taxi ‘Troubles’ tour with his friend Phillip. He himself didn’t do the tours as he wanted to be fully informed on both sides of the story before charging for it, which was nice to see their dedication. That taxi driver joined us on the tour with Phillip so he could learn and it was interesting as 1 was a protestant and 1 a catholic so we saw both sides. We were brought around where the flats used to be, saw loads of the murals and the peace wall with the meaning and story behind them all as well as many other sites. Phillip had loads of pictures to show us and a vivid description of many events which occurred, it was extremely interesting and shocking. What added to the tour was that both of the taxi men had injuries from being caught up in the trouble, with 1 having a bullet wound and the other a hearing aid after having his head beaten in, this showed how much people were affected by it, whether intentionally or not. Phillip was extremely lively and really good craic so kept myself and y boyfriend very entertained on the tour, we were even brought out for 2 hours rather than the hour and a half he usually does, As we went in January it was dark when we were going around so i’d recommend going early in the day, although Phillip was prepared with a torch and umbrella so we could see everything clearer. Would definitely recommend it and would go again. We enjoyed Phillip so much we booked a Game of Thrones and Giants Causeway trip with him too.
